The endless plains of the Serengeti are known as one of the best places in Africa to go on safari. The abundance and variety of wildlife in this beautiful park is unsurpassed. Flat-topped acacia trees and rivers dot the landscape. It is the best place to witness the Big Five and the largest overland migration of wildlife on earth. This is Africa as you always imaged it.

Untouched ecosystem

Serengeti National Park is immense, it spans roughly 30,000 km2 (12,000 sq. mi). It’s the oldest park in Tanzania and most complex ecosystem on earth. The flora and fauna are almost the same as hundreds of centuries ago. The Big Five and all three African big cats are abundant, but also several very rare species like the black rhino, pangolin, black-and-white colobus monkey, Oryx and wild dog. You will be impressed by the natural beauty of the world’s most famous park.

Highlights Serengeti

There is so much to see and keep you occupied in Serengeti National Park. One of the best places to spot large predators like lions, leopards, cheetahs and hyenas is Seronera Valley.  You can also see elephants, zebras, elephants, giraffes, wildebeest and many other species on any given day. Another highlight are the Moru Kopjes in central Serengeti, which is the best place to spot a black rhino. These rock formations (kopjes) dot the landscape and provide shade and great viewpoints for many animals, including lions, leopards and cheetahs. If you want to see about 200 splashing, playing hippos head to the Retina Hippo pool. This is one of the few places where you can get out of the car to take pictures.

Great Wildebeest Migration

Watch an endless stream of millions of wildebeest and zebra thundering the vast plains of the Serengeti in search of fresh water and grass. The mammals migrate on a loop path through Tanzania and Kenya, chasing the rains in a race for life. Galloping hooves, clouds of dust, sounds of grunting fills the air and predators lie in wait. This spectacle of nature is breathtaking. Especially the legendary wildebeest crossing at the Mara and Grumeti Rivers, which you can see in countless wildlife documentaries.
