Tanzania group safari: what to know

Join a Tanzania group safari: small groups of up to six, a pop-up roof vehicle, a professional guide and fixed departures that keep the price per person down.

What to know before you go

  1. Safari vehicle beside a river on the Ngorongoro Crater floor

What to expect on a Tanzania group safari

Our group safaris are small: usually up to six people in one vehicle, so everyone has a window seat and a view through the roof. You share the guide, the vehicle and the cost, and often make friends along the way.

  2. Traveller relaxing on an African Queen Adventures safari vehicle

    Departures and routes

Group trips follow proven routes through Tarangire, the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Crater on set dates. If no departure fits, we can turn the same route into a private trip.

  3. African Queen Adventures safari vehicles among zebras on the crater floor

    Who it suits

Solo travellers, friends and anyone who enjoys company and wants a lower price per person. See also our solo traveller options.

Questions about Group Tour

Group Tour: how many days do I need?

Our Group Tour trips run from 5 to 5 days, and most guests choose about 5. Fewer days mean more time on the road; more days let you slow down and stay longer where the animals are.

Group Tour: when is the best time to go?

The best time is June to October, and January to February. Every month has something, though, so read our guide to the best time to visit Tanzania before you choose your dates.

Group Tour: how much does it cost?

The price depends on the season, the number of people and the lodges you choose. We send a clear, all-inclusive proposal for your dates within 24 hours, and our guide to the cost of a Tanzania safari explains the main costs.

Group Tour: can I add Zanzibar or Kilimanjaro?

Yes. Zanzibar is about an hour's flight from Arusha or the Serengeti, and Kilimanjaro is an hour's drive from Arusha. See our Zanzibar holidays and Kilimanjaro routes.

Group Tour: is the trip private?

Yes. Every trip we run is private, with your own vehicle and guide, and we adapt the route, the lodges and the pace to you. Start with the trip planner or contact us.

Shall we plan your trip?

Tell us your dates and what you would like to see. A specialist in Arusha sends a route and a clear proposal within 24 hours.
